When you visit a sauna, the most important thing is to listen to your own body.
 

What does a sauna offer to your body?

  • Stimulates the blood circulation
  • Frequent sauna use helps reduce blood pressure.
  • Reduces the risk of colds and flu.
  • The temperature changes (in and out of the sauna) stimulate the immune system. .
  • Deep cleaning of the skin takes place.

When to avoid a sauna?
A sauna is usually advisable, but if in doubt consult a doctor and avoid saunas:

  • If you have an infectious disease
  • Too high or too low blood pressure
  • Fever
  • Lots of alcohol
  • Headaches
  • Open wounds
  • Inflammations
  • Varicose veins
  • Dizziness
  • Cancer (consult your oncologist)

How to use a sauna?

  • Undressing
  • Toilet visit

This is to avoid disturbing your sauna visit.

  • Showering

Clean your body thoroughly (if necessary with scrub salt) before entering the sauna. This is not only hygienic for yourself, but also for others. 

  • Dry off
  • Warm up your body

It's important that you first warm up your body to avoid heat shock during the first sauna session. This can be done by a warm footbath. 

  • Sauna 8-12 min.
  • Cooling down

First cool down in the open air, through your breathing you already lose a large part of the stored heat. 
Take a cold shower 10°C
Plunge into a cold plunge pool 10°C

  • Warm up the body

Now you are ready for the second and third sauna session
... conclude? always end with a rest! 
 

Why cooling is so important:
Bad cooling will keep you sweating for a long time and there is a good chance that you will get a headache the same evening or the day after. 
If you finish with a warm shower, your pores open up again and your body gets ready for a sauna session.
